Fiji Dive Fiesta 2010

Fiji’s northern region will welcome dive specialists, consultants, wholesalers, and key media personnel as it hosts the 7th Dive Fiesta from May 22nd to 28th. Highlighted dive areas will be Savusavu and Taveuni.

Tourism Fiji chairman Patrick Wong says the event is designed to showcase Fiji's dive sites, the diversity of the Fiji product, and unique attributes of the region.

While the dive market has been long established, Mr Wong said this special segment will continue to play an ever increasing role in the overall niche marketing activities through cooperation with the local industry.

He adds that dive promotions compliment Government's aim as it spreads the tourism dollar throughout the islands.

“Vanua Levu and the nearby northern islands currently take 30 percent of all dedicated dive visits and Serua 27 percent,” Mr Wong said.

As the quality of the diving experience in the country enhances the overall appeal and depth of the destination, Mr Wong said dive visitors possess high disposable income that is spread outside the main tourism centres.

He adds that the market is very consumer driven, therefore publicity and word of mouth recommendation continues to be the driving force behind the dive niche.

Dive Fiesta 2010 is made possible through the collaboration of Air Pacific, Tourism Fiji, and Fiji dive operators through the Fiji Islands Hotel and Tourism Association Dive Committee.
