The presenter of a recent Maori Television series on Ngapuhi says a weekend festival in Kaikohe showed the growing strength of the tribe.
Quentin Hita says 45,000 are reported to have attended the Ngapuhi festival featuring, food, music and korero.
The Northen Advocate said Saturday saw Anika Moa, Ruia Aperahama, Sweet and Irie and others take to the stage, while Katchafire, Sons of Zion and Far North roots reggae act 1814 were scheduled to play on sunday
He told Waatea News it's hugely significant this year's festival was attended by as many as five times more than last year, as Ngapuhi has not always been seen to be united.
He said he expected Ngapuhi to move forward in the next few years.
